Twenty three parishioners made the journey to sunny Worthing on the south coast on Saturday 14th June. The attraction was not just the smell of the ozone and the opportunity to paddle in the sea but also afternoon tea with old friends George, Vivien and Katya, in their new home in the village of Findon.
The journey down was uneventful and after a short break at Box Hill in Surrey, where the temptation of the highly recommended bacon sarnies was fought and won, we were soon in Worthing.
There was plenty of time to stroll along the promenade, shop in the large town centre, enjoy a somewhat bracing walk along the pier and take the opportunity to savour lunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants.
In the afternoon we re-boarded our coach and headed for Findon. With some expert manoeuvring our driver managed to get our large coach along some narrow country lanes. Here, we were warmly welcomed by George, Vivien and Katya. This was an opportunity for our travellers to renew friendships and enjoy tea, sandwiches and cake served in the garden. Everybody agreed how well they all looked and how retirement obviously agreed with George!
