CHURCH CHOIR SINGS HALLELUJAH

A packed crowd enjoyed the sweet sound of members of the St Michael's Church choir on Sunday.
The spirit of Christmas was flowing as the church choir were joined by professional musicians in the Handel's Messiah concert at St Michael's church.

Professional soloist and former choir master at the church Mark Wilde, bass-baritone James Gower, soprano Rebecca van der Burg and mezzo-soprano Rowan Hellier also featured in the bumper evening of music.

All the money from ticket sales is to be donated to the church's emergency appeal, with the church fundraisers trying to raise £300.000 to repair the crumbling interior and exterior walls, tower and organ.

Co-organiser Veronica Robinson said of the event: "It was a magnificent rendering of the famous Hallelujah Chorus."
