PROFILES

Katie LockhartKATIE LOCKHART - Clarinet
Born in Edinburgh in 1980, Katie was brought up in the Highlands of Scotland. She undertook her musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, obtaining a 1st class honours degree, and then continued them as a postgraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music, London, obtaining a distinction for her final recital. Her studies at the RAM were made possible by the Academy’s Winifred Disney and Lena Pritchard Green Awards, the Caird Trust, the Philharmonia’s Martin Musical Scholarship Fund and the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund.

When Katie was a student she performed as a soloist in the woodwind finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition 2000 which was broadcast on BBC television and radio. She is now a freelance clarinettist, living and working in London and has performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Manchester Camerata. She has also performed for Opera East, Second Movement and the New Professionals Orchestra and has worked with the Southbank Sinfonia. Katie was also recently accepted on to the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Future Firsts orchestral training scheme and will be giving concerts at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room with other Future Firsts members this year, together with attending and playing in rehearsals of the LPO. Last year Katie performed and toured with the European Union Youth Orchestra and the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, returning from a tour of Europe, Asia and Australia in |December. She continues to be a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra this year and will be touring with them to the U.S.A and Europe this autumn.

Mina MileticMINA MILETIC - Piano
Mina Miletic was born in Belgrade. After attending the Academy of Music in Belgrade where she studied on full scholarship and obtained the BMus with highest distinction, Mina joined the Postgraduate Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she was awarded the E Power Biggs bursary and where she studied with Colin Stone and Paul Lewis.

Mina obtained the RAM PG Dip Perf and LRAM in July 2002 and was highly commended for her final recital. She was also awarded a special bursary from the Serbian Ministry of Science and Technology, received Newby Trust Grant for 2001/02 and 2002/03, Craxton Memorial Trust Award for 2001/02 and Sir Richard Stapeley Educational Trust Award for 2002/03.

In 1988 Mina won the second prize at the National Piano Competition and received the Mokranjac Prize in 1992. She also won the top prize in the Petar Konjovic International Piano Competition in 1998 and a special prize at the Karic International Piano Competition in London in 2001, and was very highly commended at the Dudley International Piano Competition in 2001.

She attended master classes with distinguished musicians such as Ian Hobson, Joseph Seiger, Peter Donohoe, Olivera Djurdjevic, Noriko Ogawa, Murray McLachlan, ... and received chamber music coachings from Mauricio Fuks, Sergiu Schwartz, Lydia Mordkovich and Ruth Waterman.

Mina Miletic is regularly appearing in recital, as a chamber musician and concerto soloist at major musical venues and festivals.

She performed at the 30th Belgrade Music Festival, Yugoslavia's most prestigious festival, recorded for RTS and has given many RTS live broadcasts.

Mina is currently the Secretary of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe. She is also active as a contributor and reviewer for the Arietta journal.

Mina Miletic has extensive experience teaching in specialist music schools and giving private piano and keyboard tuition to all levels, from beginners to advanced. She has been a Visiting Piano Teacher at Harrow School since 2003.

She is also an experienced accompanist and chamber musician, with a particular interest in working with string players (see repertoire). She regularly performs with the Amaryllis Piano Trio.
