PAUL WINGFIELD graduated with a First from Oxford University in 2006. During his time there he was organ scholar at Lincoln College and conductor of the Oxford Philharmonia and Lincoln Chamber Orchestra. Previously, he was an academic and music scholar at Eton College.
Paul founded the Orchestra of the Royal Borough in 2003. Since then, they have performed annually in festivals around the UK. Their recent performance of Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos in the Windsor Festival won critical acclaim. He has also worked with members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Mahogany Opera, the Southampton Philharmonia, Candlelight Opera and the Elgar Chamber Orchestra.
Operas include, Otello, La Traviata, The Gondoliers, Carmen, The Bear, La Serva Padrona, Le Nozze di Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte, The Bear and Ariadne auf Naxos.
Paul has also shadowed Antonio Pappano at Covent Garden on productions of La Cenerentola, Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg and Wozzeck. He shadows Jurowski at Glydnebourne this summer.
Future plans include a premiere of Caldwell’s Sinfonia with the Oxford Sinfonia, Ibert’s Angelique in London and Strauss’s Daphne.
He takes his LRSM exam in July.
