IVANA GAVRIĆ made her London début at The Royal Albert Hall in 1997 and has since performed around the UK, including at the Linbury Studio Theatre (Royal Opera House), Windsor Castle (in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales), St James’ Piccadilly and St Martin-in-the-Fields. She has also given recitals in The Netherlands, France, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Japan, and has performed concertos with orchestras in London, Cambridge and Barcelona.
Born in Sarajevo, Ivana completed her Masters in Advanced Performance with Distinction at The Royal College of Music in 2005, where she studied with Niel Immelman and Roger Vignoles and won a prestigious Frankopan Fund Scholarship (Sainsbury’s Family Charitable Trusts). She holds an MA in Music from Cambridge University, where she was also an Instrumental Award Holder and won the Ord Fund Scholarship. She has studied with esteemed musicians including Dmitry Bashkirov, Menahem Pressler, Stephen Kovacevich, Pascal Devoyon, James Gibb and Peter Bithell.
Ivana performed with the renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov in 2007, broadcast on BBC Radio 4, as part of Live Music Now. She also plays Chopin and Beethoven in the BBC2 adaptation of The Line of Beauty, and she was invited by the late Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella to perform Bach on the soundtrack of his film, Breaking and Entering, recorded at the Abbey Road Studios.
A dedicated chamber musician, Ivana has performed with colleagues at The Royal Festival Hall, the Leeds International Chamber Music Series and at festivals in Ireland, Spain and France. She is an alumna of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme and the outreach scheme Live Music Now!, set up by the late Lord Menuhin, for which she now works as a mentor for new musicians.
