PROFILE

'Spectacular performance’ Maxim Vengerov

‘Wonderful playing’ Boris Berman

‘...Artistic maturity far beyond her years…’
Scottish pianist James Gibb
Professor Emeritus, Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Ivana made her London debut at The Royal Albert Hall in 1997 and has since performed around the UK, including The Linbury Studio Theatre Covent Garden, Windsor Castle (in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales), The Caledonian Club and The Riverfront in Newport. She has also given solo recitals in The Netherlands, France, Croatia, Italy, Russia and Japan, and has performed concertos with orchestras in London, Cambridge and Barcelona.

Ivana recently performed with the renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov to great acclaim, broadcast on BBC Radio 4, as part of Live Music Now!. She also plays the rôle of a Czech pianist in the BBC2 adaptation of The Line of Beauty, performing Chopin and Beethoven. Additionally, she was invited by the Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella to perform on the soundtrack of his new film, Breaking and Entering, also working as a hand-double in the film, for Juliette Binoche.

Born in Sarajevo, Ivana completed her Masters in Advanced Performance with Distinction at The Royal College of Music in 2005, where she studied with Niel Immelman and Roger Vignoles and was generously supported by the Frankopan Fund. In 2001 she gained her BA in music from Cambridge University, studying with the Scottish pianist James Gibb.

As a chamber musician, Ivana has performed with colleagues at The Music for Wexford Festival in Ireland, Lyrique-en-mer Festival in France, Apeldoorn Festival in The Netherlands and Leeds International Chamber Music Series. She was selected to take part on the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme last summer and her long-standing duo with clarinettist Helen Paskins works for the outreach scheme Live Music Now!.
