YANA BUROVA began playing the violin at the age of five and was accepted at the Central Music School “D.Hristov” in Varna, Bulgaria to study with Mrs. R.Koleva. During that period she won various prizes and awards, including first prize in a “Czech Music Competition” and second prize in National Competition “Svetoslav Obretenov.”
Prior to completing her studies in Varna in 1998 she was chosen as a soloist with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Lalo, Spanish Symphony. Immediately following that Yana was awarded a scholarship to study with Professor Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
After graduating with a BMus(hons) in 2002 she was awarded a two-year scholarship to study with Vasko Vassilev at the Trinity College of Music, where she led the Trinity String Ensemble and was soloist with the Trinity Orchestra.
Whilst at the Trinity College of Music Yana won the J&B Beare Classical Concerto Competition over two consecutive years and in July 2004 she completed her Post Graduate Advanced Diploma with Distinction.
Yana has attended master classes led by such luminaries as: Yfrah Neaman, Mincho Minchev, Georgy Pauk and in June 2004 was selected to participate in a class led by the world renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov.
Since graduating Yana has pursued a busy career as a performer and teacher. She regularly performs throughout England in venues such as: Leighton House Museum, St.Martin-in-the-Fields, St.James’s Piccadilly, St. Paul’s, etc. and has participated at a number of festivals in Bulgaria. In October 2007 Yana was invited back to her home town, Varna to perform the Mozart Violin Concerto in D major with Sinfonietta Orchestra, conducted by Milko Kolarov. Most recently she has released a CD featuring music for Violin and Piano written by 20th century Bulgarian Composers.
She is currently teaching at, amongst other schools, the St. James Independent School in London.
TODOR NIKOLAEV was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has studied violin at the National Schoolof Music in Sofia and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Yfrah Neaman and John Glickman.
As a solo performer and a member of different chamber ensembles he has played and worked with artists such as Nigel Kennedy, Melos, Takacs and Velinger Quartets, Rachel Podger and Sir Colin Davis. He is a prize winner at several international violin competitions throughout Europe. As a chamber musician and soloist of several orchestras in the UK and Bulgaria he has made recordings for the BBC Radio 3 and the Bulgarian National Television and Radio.
With the Franke Piano Quintet Todor has made a few world premieres of works by Michael Finnissy, and as a soloist of works by Philip Sawyers.
Currently Todor is established as a violin tutor at the Blackheath Conservatoire ofMusic and the Arts, London, University of Reading and St. Swithun’sSchool, Winchester.
Future plans of Todor include series of variety of concerts as a soloist as well with his ensemble Inspirity in the UK and Bulgaria.
RAISA ZAPRYANOVA is a Bulgarian violist who made her debut at the age of 15 as a soloist with Pazardjik State Symphony Orchestra and since than has appeared as a soloist with Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra and Dobrin Petkov Symphony Orchestra. Just turned her twenties Raisa already has several awards from national and international competitions and has performed at venues as the Southbank Centre, Granada Town Hall, Maestro Georgy Atanassov Hall and Plovdiv Concert Hall.
A passionate chamber musician she has had the rare opportunity to perform in an ensembles with Andrew Duckles, Paul Yarburough, Gancho Ganev, Anet Artinian, prof.Nedyalcho Todorov, Kiril Grozdanov, Stela Dinkova.
Both as a participant of International youth orchestras as well as a member of Plovdiv State Symphony Orchestra Raisa has been honored to work under the baton of Marek Pijarowski, sir Neville Marriner, Georgy Dimitrov, Grigor Palikarov. She has been taught in master classes of well recognized musicians at festivals all over Europe - Mario
Hossen, Elisaveta Kazakova, Kevork Mardirosian, Elisaveta Staneva, Wolfgang Kloss, Paul Yarbrough, Bojidar Noev and Andrew Duckles. A pupil of prof. Nedyalcho Todorov and Tatyana Krasteva she currently studies with the renowned Rivka Golani as a Trinity College London scholarship student.
As a cellist and chamber musician who takes very active and intensive part in London's music life, STEFAN HADJIEV works with a large scale of international musicians and has performed at some of the major venues such as Wigmore Hall, Barbican and St Martin-in-the Fields. He is member of the Baldaccio String Quartet (http://baldaccioquartet.co.uk/) and the World Citizen Soloists ensemble (http://www.myspace.com/theworldcitizensoloists).
Stefan graduated the National School of Music in Sofia and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 2006 he was nominated for 'Kristalna Lira' prize from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, after a very successful series of recitals in Bulgaria, including live broadcast of his recital at the Apollonia international festival in Sozopol.
Stefan appeared in live broadcasting and recordings for the BBC, RAI and the Bulgarian National Radio and Television.
In 2008 Stefan was part of Southbank Sinfonia- a young group of exceptional college graduates. In the same year he participated in the production of Thomas Ades's chamber opera Powder her Face at the Royal Opera House. He was also part of the highly acclaimed National Theatre production of Tom Stoppard's Every Good Boy Deserves Favor.
2009 finds Stefan Hadjiev in his next music adventure called Inspirity.
