PROFILES
 
Dimitar BurovDIMITAR BUROV began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Varna State Music School under G. Burova and D. Raichev until 1984 and later continued studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Music with Professor Atanassov. Having made his debut as a soloist with the Varna Philharmonic he continued to give many concerts both as a soloist and as a member of a Piano Trio. In 1987 he was awarded first prize in the “N. Simeonova” Competition. Later that year he also won first prize in the “National Competition for Young Talents” in Sofia, following which he was invited to record the Chausson’s “Poeme” for the Sofia Radio, a performance which was hailed as “intensely expressive and powerful.”

In 1988 Dimitar was awarded a full scholarship from the British Council to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Professor Yfrah Neaman. Since graduating the Advanced Solo Study course there, he has pursued a busy career both as a teacher and performer. Having taught at Lancing College, North London Collegiate School and the Purcell School, he is at present Head of Strings at Harrow School.

Dimitar led the Lancing Piano Trio and performs regularly at music festivals and music societies throughout the country. Most recently he has released a CD of chamber music featuring works by Mozart, Frank and Prokofiev. He has successfully toured Germany, Finland, Hungary and Turkey and regularly performs in Bulgaria.


Future engagements feature a performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with Sofia Radio Orchestra and a concert tour with a master class in Hong Kong.
 

Mina MileticMINA MILETIC was born in Serbia. After attending the Academy of Music in Belgrade where she studied on full scholarship and obtained the BMus with highest distinction, Mina joined the Postgraduate Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she was awarded the E Power Biggs Bursary and where she studied with Paul Lewis and Colin Stone.

Mina obtained the RAM Postgraduate Diploma in July 2002 and was awarded distinction for her final recital. Prize-winner of many awards, Mina received a special bursary from the Serbian Ministry of Science, ‘Mokranjac Prize’ for outstanding achievement, Newby Trust Educational Grant, Craxton Memorial Trust Award, Sir Richard Stapeley Educational Trust Award…

Mina Miletic established her career regularly appearing in recital, as a chamber musician and concerto soloist at musical venues and festivals throughout Europe. She performed at the 30 th Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS), ex-Yugoslavia’s most prestigious festival, recorded for Serbian National Radio and TV (RTS) and has given many RTS live broadcasts. Her international engagements have included concerts in Bulgaria, France, Norway, Portugal, Spain, UK and ex-Yugoslavia.

Mina is also an experienced chamber musician with a particular interest in working with string players. She regularly performs with Miletic Piano Quartet and SW7 Chamber Group. She is currently preparing her PhD thesis on ‘Interpretation of impressionistic music for piano’. Mina is also the Secretary of the Beethoven Society of Europe.
